KUALA LUMPUR: Samsung Malaysia Electronics Sdn Bhd is set to launch more touchscreen phones and smartphones in the second half of this year.

Samsung Malaysia senior manager (mobile phone marketing) Wong Man Ngee said despite the slower growth of sales for general mobile phones in Malaysia this year, there was still a significant demand for touchscreen phones and smartphones.

Speaking at the launch of Samsung Jet S8003 here on July 17, he said Samsung had the biggest share of over 40% in the country of the high-end market above RM1,500 per unit. The launch was also attended by Samsung Malaysia managing director Yoon Ki Heung.

Dubbed “smarter than smartphone”, the Jet S8003 features a 3.1-inch screen with multi-task manager and Samsung’s Dolfin Internet browser. This smartphone also features Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync Email system that is synchronised with Microsoft Outlook.Cap: From second left: Wong, Yoon, Samsung Electronics director of marketing Jimmy Tan and Samsung Electronics adviser for mobile phone marketing Gordon Kim with Samsung models at the launch of Samsung Jet S8003.
