KUALA LUMPUR: Investors can expect a volatile trading day on April 29, which is settlement day for stocks bought on April 24, especially when market volume surged over two billion units. Interest would be focused on KNM and Ramunia which had seen very heavy volume of shares traded last week and also those lower liners and penny stocks. Of concern to investors would be the negative newsflow about the swine flu and the health of the US banking system. It would be a double whammy for the equities markets which were showing signs of tentative recovery during a "bear market rally". Banks, Genting and PLANTATION []s could continue to see some selling pressure if there are no fresh news about the containment of the virus. Meanwhile, Bank Negara is scheduled to release its monetary policy statement after market hours and there are expectations of further rate cuts to avert a deepening recession. Exports have fallen in recent month, especially of electrical and electronic products. PIE Industrial could see trading interest after it proposed a total of 35 sen dividend -- 23 sen special dividend and 12 sen first and final dividend -- for financial year ended Dec 31, 2008. PROGRESSIVE IMPACT CORPORATION [] Bhd (Picorp) had inked agreements with Sudan’s Ministry of Infrastructure for USD144.5 million in projects. Picorp’s 60%-owned company had secured more CONSTRUCTION [] projects for the sewage treatment plants. JAKS Resources, which is in the midst of finalising details of a planned US$1.8 billion power plant in Vietnam, is now planning to secure an estimated 20 million euro waste water treatment plant construction job there. Watta Holdings announced that it had appointed Messrs UHY Diong as investigative auditors to audit its subsidiary Watta Energy for the financial year ended Sept 30, 2008.The audit was for business transactions and accounting treatment of revenue for FY ended Sept 30, 2008. Companies which will hold their shareholders meeting on April 29 are Octagon Consolidated and The New Straits Times Press (M). Questions which shareholders could bring up at the Octagon AGM are how would the board improve the revenue contribution from the overseas operations in Indonesia and Hong Kong/China which fell 21.4% and 28.1% respectively.
