At 10am, the KLCI had risen 6.01 points to 1,051.27, heading to its highest level since Sept 10 last year. Turnover was 382.84 million shares valued at RM303.12 million. Gainers beat losers by 230 to 80, while 147 counters traded unchanged. Among key markets, Japan's Nikkei 225 added 1.14% to 9,331.23 and South Korea's Kospi was up 0.19% to 1,406.45. Singapore's Straits Times Index rose 0.16% to 2,248.76.The Shanghai Composite Index lost 2.05% to 2,544.77 while Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index opened 0.79% lower at 16,927.99. Among the major gainers were BHIC, Proton, Tenaga, Genting, Boustead and Telekom. BHIC rose 18 sen to RM4.50, Proton up 16 sen to RM3.04, Tenaga and Genting added 15 sen each to RM7.80 and RM5.35, respectively while Boustead was up 14 sen to RM4.30 and Telekom up 12 sen to RM3.88. Other gainers were Amway, UMW and Keck Seng. The top loser was Ho Hup that fell 17.5 sen to 31 sen, Country Heights down 11 sen to 61 sen, Hexagon lost 7 sen to RM1.20 while PLUS fell 6 sen to RM3.26. Other losers were KrisAssets, Asiatic and IJM Corporation. Tebrau Teguh was the most actively traded counter with 30.7 million shares traded. It was unchanged at 76 sen. Other actives this morning were Mulpha, KNM, UEM Land, Oilcorp, MRCB and SAAG.
