KUALA LUMPUR: Mesdaq-listed Scan Associates Bhd has appointed Professor Datuk Dr Norbik Bashah Idris as its new chief executive officer, replacing Datuk Aminuddin Baki Esa, who was dismissed by the company on Jan 9 this year.

In a statement today, Scan said as a principal founder of the group, Norbik had helped to conceive and nurture the company until it became recognised internationally.

"He has contributed immensely to the growth and success of the group. Today, Norbik is leading a team of management to re-strategise and invent a new wave of success for the group," it said.

It said Norbik graduated in 1982 from the University of New South Wales in Australia and later earned a master's degree from the University of Queensland.

Subsequently, he received a doctorate in computer security from the University of Wales in Cardiff, United Kingdom and a professional certificate in software engineering from Universite' Thales Paris, Scan said.

Norbik also carries a string of professional certifications in information security and assurance, it said.

Scan said in a filing on Jan 12 that it had lodged a police report pursuant to Aminuddin's termination in view of the misappropriation of company monies amounting to RM1.7 million as established by an independent panel of domestic inquiry.
