KUALA LUMPUR: Scomi Marine Bhd, via its 80.54% unit PT Rig Tenders Indonesia Tbk, has acquired a 5,380 bhp anchor handling, towing and supply (AHTS) vessel for US$15 million (RM51 million).

In a news release yesterday, Scomi Marine said that PT Rig Tenders, via a 70:30 joint venture with Marco Polo Ventures Pte Ltd, had entered into an agreement to acquire the vessel with a ship repair and maintenance agreement attached from Marco Polo Shipping Co Pte Ltd.

Marco Polo Shipping Co is a wholly owned unit of Marco Polo Marine, a company traded on the Singapore stock exchange.

The new AHTS is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2010 and will boost PT Rig Tenders’ fleet to 57 units.

For the six months ended June this year, Scomi Marine posted a net profit of RM34 million on the back of RM212.3 million in revenue.

Scomi Marine ended trading yesterday at 58 sen, slipping 0.5 sen.
