KUALA LUMPUR: A total 193 employers were fined an aggregate of RM278,970 by the court in the third quarter for defaulting on their Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contributions. In a statement today, EPF said Maxsoft Precision Sdn Bhd of Johor was slapped with the highest fine totalling RM7,000.

Senzpak (M) Sdn Bhd of Johor, Jurutera Budiman (M&E) Sdn Bhd of Selangor, Rohana Bursery & Trading Sdn Bhd of Terengganu and The Regend Inn of Sarawak were fined RM5,000 each.

"The rate of defaulting employers during this quarter registered a drop in which only 1.75% of employers had defaulted compared with 1.91% in the previous quarter," said EPF general manager for public relations Nik Affendi Jaafar.
