Shares end lower ahead of long weekend

KUALA LUMPUR: Turnover on Bursa Malaysia's Main Market rose to 527.37 million shares, valued at RM996.42 million, on Thursday, Dec 17, from yesterday's 500.63 million shares, valued at RM884.70 million.

Volume on the ACE Market increased to 80.35 million units, worth RM28.92 million, from 50.43 million units, worth RM12.87 million, recorded on Wednesday.

However, warrants fell to 19.19 million units, worth RM2.97 million, from yesterday's 19.24 million units valued at RM2.61 million.

Among actively traded counters, Scomi-Irredeemable Convertible Secured Loan Stocks was flat at 10 sen, DSC Solutions lost six sen to 34.5 sen while Green Packet-Warrants gained two sen to 68.5 sen.

Among heavyweights, Sime Darby rose one sen to RM8.99, Maybank was unchanged at RM6.78 while CIMB and Maxis fell six sen and three sen respectively to RM13.02 and RM5.35.

Consumer products accounted for 21.05 million shares traded on the Main Market, industrial products 103.68 million, construction 28.09 million, trading and services 187.06 million, technology 62.30 million, infrastructure 5.51 million, finance 56.07 million, hotels 3.08 million, properties 43.70 million, plantations 14.18 million, mining 5,000, REITs 2.63 million and closed/fund 8,500. — Bernama
