KUALA LUMPUR: HeiTech Padu Bhd subsidiary HeiTech Managed Services Sdn Bhd (HMS) has launched the first home-grown online information back-up and recovery solution, branded as Padu*M.O.B.S. and empowered by EMC Avamar technology.

In a statement issued here yesterday, HeiTech said the solution was designed to meet the data protection needs of organisations and small and medium enterprises (SME) in the country.

HMS CEO Abdul Halim Md Lassim said: "Previously, such protection was too costly. We recognise the urgent need for a scalable and cost-effective solution that can help them in managing their online back-up easily."

He said the company was projecting sales of RM1 million for 2010 and forecasting a 20% year-on-year growth while by 2012, it aimed to generate 3% of its total revenue through Padu*M.O.B.S.

"We believe that this solution will give our customers competitive advantage as it is a pay-per-use solution that enables them to only pay one cost based on the amount of data being backed up. In other words, customers do not need to make a capital expenditure or invest in additional manpower," he added.

Also present at the launch were HeiTech Padu executive chairman Datuk Mohd Hilmey Mohd Taib and EMC Malaysia managing director Peter Goh.

Goh said Malaysian companies, like their counterparts abroad, had been facing cost pressures resulting in reduced IT and HR budgets while the complexity of the information infrastructure had continued to grow.

"By using Padu*M.O.B.S., Malaysian companies can benefit from the security of high-end data protection in a way that also addresses their CIO other concerns and priorities," he said.

HMS and EMC Malaysia will jointly market Padu*M.O.B.S.
