Wong KUALA LUMPUR: Star Publications (M) Bhd group chief editor (GCE) Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai has been appointed an executive director of the company.

Star made the announcement in a filing to Bursa Malaysia Securities on Thursday, March 11. Other executive directors on the board are Datuk Seri Kamal Mohamed Hashim and Ng Beng Lye.

When contacted, Wong said he was still the group chief editor. “There is nothing unusual in being both the GCE and executive director. It has happened in many news organisations,” said the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia political science graduate.

Wong, 49, started his career as a reporter in The Star 25 years ago and has a weekly column, On The Beat.
