KUALA LUMPUR: Pos Malaysia Bhd's revenue came in marginally short of the KPI target for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2009 (FY09).

The postal group reported a revenue of RM903 million, nearly 4% or RM37 million below its KPI target. It attributed the lower revenue to lower contributions from most business segments, amidst difficult economic climate.

In a statement on Wednesday, March 17, the company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) was RM132 million, a 1.5% higher than its target of RM130 million. The higher Ebitda is due to the reduction in operating expenses (net of depreciation and amortisation), which mitigated the lower revenue achieved.

Pos Malaysia recorded return on assets (ROA) of 5.9%, higher than the headline KPI target by 1.4 percentage point. This is in line with the slightly higher operating profit recorded against target coupled by the slightly lower asset base against projection.
