KLCI opens lower

KUALA LUMPUR: The KL Composite Index (KLCI) opened in negative territory this morning, tracking the overnight losses at Wall Street.

At 9.01am, the benchmark KLCI fell 2.13 points to 1,071.99. Turnover was 17.86 million shares valued at RM11.86 million. There were 65 losers, 28 gainers while 67 counters traded unchanged.

Among the major losers, KLCCP and Genting fell 10 sen each to RM3.16 and RM5.70; Maybank lost 5 sen to RM5.80, MAHB and YTL Power fell 4 sen each to RM3.56 and RM2.15, while Transmile fell 3 sen to RM1.44.

Other losers included Unisem, Dialog and DRB-Hicom.

The top gainer was United Plantations, which rose 20 sen to RM12.90. Other gainers included Toyo Ink, Guinness and Aeon Credit.

PM Industries was the most active counter with 3.5 million shares traded. It added half a sen to 8 sen. Other actively traded stocks included Scomi, Compugates, KNM, Saag and Gula Perak.
