KUALA LUMPUR: Resorts World Bhd has changed its name to Genting Malaysia Bhd with effect from June 18, the company said. The shareholders had approved the name change at the AGM on June 16. Genting Malaysia chairman and chief executive Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay said the name change is part of the Genting Group’s ongoing rebranding exercise. “The new corporate name reflects the company’s primary country of listing, origin and current operations,” he said. Lim said since Genting Malaysia was a key subsidiary of Genting Bhd, the new name also reflected the direct relationship between the two entities.“It will enable the company to leverage on the strength and value of the Genting brand, as we pursue our vision of becoming the leading leisure, hospitality and entertainment corporation in the world,” he added. The corporate website has been changed from www.resortsworld.com to www.gentingmalaysia.com. All references and materials relating to Resorts World Bhd will be progressively changed to Genting Malaysia Bhd.
