KUALA LUMPUR: Chips component-related manufacturers climbed in early trade on Wednesday, July 14 as investors took their cue from the better-than-expected results from Intel Corp and its optimistic outlook.

At 9.25am, Unisem (M) Bhd and Pentamaster Corp Bhd gained five sen each to RM3.15 and 33 sen, respectively; Eng Teknologi Holdings Bhd up 10 sen to RM2.46, while JCY International Bhd rose three sen to RM1.53.

Intel reported net income of US$2.9 billion (RM9.25 billion), or 51 US cents a share, versus a net loss of US$398 million, or 7 US cents a share, in the second quarter of 2009, when Intel's results included a US$1.4 billion fine by the European Commission.
