Flash KLCI surges past 1,400, Maybank lifts

KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI broke through the psychological important 1,400- level on Monday, Aug 23, lifted by gains including at Maybank, CIMB and Tanjong.

At 9.05am, the benchmark index added 5.93 points to 1,400.95. Gainers led losers by 97 to 38, while 85 counters traded unchanged. Volume was 34.87 million shares valued at RM20.84 million.

Maybank was the top gainer in early trade and was up 23 sen to RM8.36; Suncity gained 15 sen to RM3.88, DFZ Capital and Aliran Ihsan Resources rose 13 sen each to RM3.74 and RM1.44, CIMB added eight sen to RM7.78 while Tan Chong was up five sen to RM5.11.

Meanwhile, Tanjong and Yee Lee rose four sen each to RM21.26 and RM3.43, respectively.
