Sime, Maybank lift KLCI

KUALA LUMPUR: Blue chips started the new week on a strong note on Monday, Aug 30, with extended buying on Sime Darby and Maybank.

At 9.33am, the share price was up 9.51 points to 1,420.56. There were 71.76 million shares done at RM87.11 million. There were 219 gainers, 65 losers and 122 stocks unchanged.

Sime Darby rose 20 sen to RM8.30 and Maybank gained 11 sen to RM8.37. KFCH was the top gainer, up 26 sen to RM10.76 while Nestle gained 18 sen to RM39.98.

Petronas Gas rose 14 sen to RM10.54 with 41,100 shares done after surging RM3.80 to RM13.48 earlier which could be due to a keying in error.

Cocoland was the worst performer, down 16 sen to RM2.60 with 85,900 shares done. BAT fell eight sen to RM45.10.
