Notable filings
Filings between June 8 and 12 revealed that Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) acquired 250 million shares, or a 4.16% stake, in Sime Darby Bhd on June 3, while Skim Amanah Saham Bumiputera (SASB) disposed of the same number of shares on the same day. With the transactions, PNB raised its interest in Sime Darby to 744.7 million shares or 12.4% equity interest, while SASB reduced its stake to 36.8% or 2.21 billion shares.

Also on June 3, SASB acquired 150 million shares, or a 13.64% stake, in UMW Holdings Bhd from PNB, raising its interest in UMW to 40.4% or 443.7 million shares. With the disposal, PNB was left with 139.42 million shares, or a 12.7% stake, in UMW.

Compugates Holdings Bhd group managing director Goh Kheng Peow disposed of 416.92 million shares, or 19.5% equity interest, in the company between June 1 and 12, reducing his stake to 24% or 511.91 million shares.

KNM Group Bhd managing director Lee Swee Eng disposed of 31.65 million shares in the company on June 1 and 4, and another 32 million shares via Inter Merger Sdn Bhd, reducing his direct and indirect interest in the company to 23.7% or 937.05 million shares. KNM director Datuk Abdul Halim Mohyiddin sold 1.1 million shares on the open market on May 29 and June 1, while the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) made a net disposal of 18.79 million KNM shares between June 1 and 8.

Wei Chuan Beng and Lee Eng Sia ceased to be substantial shareholders of Mesdaq Market-listed REDtone International Bhd after disposing of 2.61 million and 19.66 million shares, respectively, via direct deals on June 5. On the same day, Indah Pusaka Sdn Bhd — controlled by REDtone’s group CEO Zainal Amanshah Zainal Arshad — acquired 40 million shares or a 10.35% stake, raising his direct and indirect interest in the company to 25.06% or 96.87 million shares.

OSK Technology Ventures Sdn Bhd ceased to be a substantial shareholder of Mesdaq counter MNC Wireless Bhd after disposing of 5.05 million shares on June 5.

Lau Soo Hooi ceased to be a substantial shareholder of Teo Guan Lee Corp Bhd after disposing of 2.04 million shares to Toh Peng Hoe Holdings Sdn Bhd in an off-market deal on June 8.

PNB ceased to be a substantial shareholder of Multi-Code Electronics Industries (M) Bhd after disposing of 1.5 million shares on June 3.

Filings on June 12 showed that Teoh Hock Chai Sdn Bhd acquired deemed interest of 195.02 million shares, or 22.5% equity interest, in Unico-Desa Plantations Bhd on June 10, after it had acquired a substantial interest in ELK Group Sdn Bhd, which is a substantial shareholder of Unico-Desa.

A June 12 filing showed that FMR LLC & FIL Ltd acquired 48.69 million shares, or a 5.37% stake, in Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd on June 8.

MCMC Sdn Bhd acquired 36.99 million shares, or 18.5% equity interest, in Mesdaq counter SCAN Associates Bhd on June 10, pursuant to two agreements executed between Datuk Aminuddin Baki @ Sabtu Esa and MCMC.

SASB acquired 30 million shares in Tenaga Nasional Bhd on June 3, raising its shareholding to 9.5% or 410.84 million shares.


Notable movements
Measat Global Bhd jumped 89 sen or 87% m-o-m to RM1.91 last Wednesday. Retirement Fund Inc ceased to be a substantial shareholder of Measat on June 10 after disposing of 470,000 shares. The retirement fund had been disposing of Measat shares since April 6. It had sold 2.33 million shares over the past two months.



Transmile Group Bhd saw its share price surge 93% m-o-m, or 70 sen, to close at RM1.45 last Wednesday. Filings showed that Emerging Markets Growth Fund Inc ceased to be a substantial shareholder of Transmile on June 12 after disposing of 1.84 million shares at RM1.458 per share on the open market. Just the day before, the fund had disposed of 1.16 million shares at RM1.541 apiece. Major shareholder Kuok Brothers Sdn Bhd disposed of 195,800 indirect shares in Transmile on June 10.
