Implementing Blue Ocean strategy

KUALA LUMPUR: Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkilli will officially open the Blue Ocean Strategy seminar here on March 30.

Organised by the USCI Blue Ocean Strategy Regional Centre, the thrust of the seminar will be “Value innovation in the Knowledge economy”.

The seminar will provide participants with a basic introduction to the concepts, tools and methodologies behind the Blue Ocean Strategy and value innovation.

Participants will also learn how Blue Ocean Strategy is implemented in business and the seminar will also equip them with hands-on tools and methodologies.

Among the participants are policy makers, business owners, IT content creators and those involved in education and training, financial sector and telecommunications.

The seminar will equip participants with skills to help organisations be crucially aware on the need for change and find ways to quickly and effectively create an understanding of their business in value innovation terms.

The seminar will be facilitated by Jason Hunter, director of training at USCI Blue Ocean Strategy Regional Centre.

He was a former INSEAD Blue Ocean Strategy Institute executive fellow and director of training for the Blue Ocean Strategy Network. 

Hunter has provided strategic counsel and executive development to KPMG, Pearson PLC, Toshiba, CVS Pharmacies, IBM, Syngenta, Danone, SAP, US State Department, and the World Bank.

The main speaker at the seminar will be deputy head of school of business at Monash University, Prof Mahendhiran Nair.

The panelists are MDeC vice president of business strategy and transformation, Datuk Dan E. Khoo, Advisor of Technopreneurs Association of Malaysia Dr Sivapalan Vivekarajah, Cradle Funds Sdn Bhd CEO Nazrin Hassan and USCI Education Group president Peter Ng.

The seminar will be held at the UCSI North Wing Campus in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur from 8.30am to 5.30pm.
