KUALA LUMPUR: Privasia Tech Bhd has been awarded an RM8 million contract from Jalur Lebar Nasional Sdn Bhd for the design, supply and installation of equipment for Phase 1 of the high-speed broadband (HSBB) project in Kuantan, Pahang.

Jalur Lebar, which is ultimately owned by Pahang Technology Resources Sdn Bhd and Bumiraya Resources Sdn Bhd, has announced it expects to invest up to RM10 billion in its HSBB infrastructure nationwide.

“This letter of award (LOA) marks our venture into the communications sector in a very meaningful manner. We believe that this project would be an additional commendable reference point in our portfolio,” said Privasia’s CEO Puvanesan Subenthiran in a statement yesterday.

Jalur Lebar also has the option of appointing Privasia for the subsequent maintenance and support services for the active components rolled out under Phase 1.

Jalur Lebar is targeting to equip about 30,000 households and offices with broadband speeds of between 30mbps and 100mbps by the end of the year.
Privasia fell one sen to nine sen yesterday, with over six million shares done.
