KUALA LUMPUR: CIMB-Principal Asset Management Bhd took home two regional awards at the recent Asia Asset Management Best of the Best Awards 2009 to add to the brace gained at the recent The Edge-Lipper Awards.

“We are pleased with these awards, which recognise our performance domestically and regionally,” CIMB-Principal chief executive Campbell Tupling said in a statement. He said CIMB-Principal was one of the most trusted names in the industry, a trust earned through consistent investment performance, credited to an experienced in-house research team.

“This, combined with our strong fund management processes tested over high and low market cycles enable us to achieve investors’ expectations,” he said.

CIMB-Principal clinched the Best Institutional House (Malaysia) Award while Tupling was named CEO of the Year (Malaysia) for his overall achievements, particularly his leadership in CIMB-Principal over a two-year period.

“The investment team controlled risk levels and managed volatility to suit forward market conditions. We look at more than just stock picking,” said its chief investment officer Raymond Tang.

CIMB-Principal currently manages 69 funds with RM22.1 billion under management.
