GO Communications has been appointed by leading toy manufacturer Mattel to handle public relations for the World Scrabble Championship to be held in Johor Bahru from Nov 26 to 29. Known for its iconic Barbie dolls, Mattel also manufactures toys such as Scrabble, Uno, Pictionary and Hot Wheels.
“It was a heavyweight pitch and to win is a real feather in Go Comm’s cap,” Go Communications chief operating officer Peter de Kretser said in a press release yesterday. Three to four major PR agencies participated in the pitch.
The World Scrabble Championship is held every two years with participation by over 1,000 players representing more than 35 countries. The current No 1 player in the world is Malaysian Ganesh Asirvatham.
Go Communications’ recent wins include Tyrepac (Asia’s first tyre online portal), the Youth Engagement Summit (YES2009) and UK sports marketing company Contact the Players.
