Spikes Asia dates in Sept, Adfest postponed

THE SPIKES Asia Advertising Festival will be held at Suntec Singapore from Sept 19 to Sept 22 to coincide with the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Organised by the International Advertising Festival — the organisers behind the Cannes Lions, Dubai Lynx and Eurobest — and Haymarket, the publisher of Media magazine, the Spikes Asia Advertising Festival offers creative and advertising practitioners a platform to network, exchange ideas and showcase their work. The festival culminates with the Spikes Awards, which since its inception in 1987 have recognised the best creative work in the region. Last year’s Spikes Asia drew about 1,000 delegates and
3,000 entries from 21 countries.

The Spikes Asia website www.spikes.asia will be launched on March 9.

Meanwhile, the Asia-Pacific Advertising Festival or Adfest 2010, which was slated for Pattaya from March 18-20, has been postponed due to the current political situation in Thailand.

According to Adfest working committee chairman Vinit Suraphongchai in a press release on the Adfest website, the postponement was a precautionary measure in light of possible political unrest scheduled the week prior to Adfest. The event has been tentatively postponed to mid-May.
