4.11pm: Ngeh said PR's exco meeting scheduled for Wednesday morning has been called off. He added that PR will meet their lawyers tonight to explore next course of action.

FRU trucks have left the Perak Darul Ridzuan building although about 50 light strike force officers and some police vehicles are still standing guard outside.

4.08pm: Ngeh, in a short press conference after Nizar's press conference, said the PR exco's decision to suspend State Legal Adviser Datuk Ahmad Kamal Mohd Shahid and State Secretary Datuk Abdul Rahman Hashim from their duties pending an inquiry was still maintained.

Ngeh said the stay of execution order could not operate "in retrospect", as such all PR exco orders made this morning was still in force.

Ngeh said State Financial Officer Datuk Jamaluddin Al-Amini would assume the post of acting state secretary while the state legal adviser's position will be temporarily filled by the deputy state legal adviser.

3.52pm: Speaking to reporters at the DAP headquarters, Nizar said the Court of Appeal's decision to grant stay of execution of the High Courts declaration yesterday had "raised more questions and more problems".

Nizar reiterated that the political impasse in Perak can only be solved by returning the vote to the people rather than being determined by the courts.

Nizar also maintained that he was still the valid menteri besar "at all material times", relying on Monday's Kuala Lumpur High Court decision.

When asked, Nizar said he and Perak Regent Raja Dr Nazrin Shah did not speak about the Perak impasse and court decisions during this morning's investiture ceremony. Nizar said they spoke about "general life and weather".

3.13pm: Nizar is at the DAP HQ for a meeting.

3.08pm: Nizar's lawyers were heard discussing the Court of Appeal's ruling to grant a stay of execution.

Leong, quoting Justice Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahim yesterday at the KL High Court, questioned if a court declaration can be "stayed".

Leong also noted that the Court of Appeal had not ruled the High Court's decision "null and void".

Nizar said the Court of Appeal decision raised more questions and a situation where the MB's office was vacant at any point in time was risky and could give rise to dangerous consequences.

3.03pm: Zambry says he will go into MB's office to resume duties.

2.59pm: Nizar's lawyer Leong Cheok Keng arrives at mamak shop to advise Nizar. Leong hands Nizar a one-page document briefly detailing Leong's legal opinion on the new developments.

Leong said he had not received any letter or document from Zambry's side.

2.42pm: Nizar leaves state secretariat building. Says it is out of respect for court decision.

2.34pm: Following today's Court of Appeal decision, Zambry urged Nizar to respect the court's ruling and vacate office accordingly.

Nizar, who is still in the menteri besar's office, is holding a meeting with PR exco members.

It remains uncertain if Nizar had been formally ordered to leave the building.

2.20pm: Several PR exco members have entered the menteri besar's office for a meeting with Nizar. Among them are Nga Kor Ming (Pantai Remis), Chen Fook Chye (Keranji) and Thomas Su (Pasir Pinji).

1.56pm: In an immediate response the Court of Appeal granting Zambry's application for stay of execution, Nizar said he would wait for legal advice before proceeding.

"We'll see the consequences of it (the stay). If stay is allowed, up to what level (is it granted)?" Nizar told reporters at the menteri besar's office.

"Whatever court action taken (by both sides), we have to sincerely and quickly stop the political impasse," Nizar said.

Nizar also did not express alarm at the increased presence of FRU trucks and police personnel outside the state secretariat building following the Court of Appeal's ruling.

1.37pm: Nizar, visibly worried, enters the menteri besar's office.

1.25pm: Five FRU trucks are seen moving towards the state secretariat building. Nizar is currently in the building, performing prayers.

Meanwhile, Zambry will hold a press conference at the Umno headquarters at 1.45pm.

1pm: Court of Appeal grants Zambry's application for a stay of Monday's High Court ruling that recognised Nizar as rightful Perak MB.

12.24pm: Sivakumar says he still is legitimate Speaker and Deputy Speaker Hee Yit Foong cannot convene a sub-assembly while he was still in Dewan.

Noon: Ngeh chairs press conference, on behalf of Nizar, to announce continuation and immediate implementation of PR's policies. Ngeh said BN policies will be reviewed and retained if it benefited the people. Ngeh holds a press conference. Photo by Chu Juck Seng

10.45am: Zambry's appeal likely to be heard by Court of Appeal today. Lawyers currently are on their way to the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya.

9.20am: Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir files appeal against Monday's Kuala Lumpur High Court ruling that Nizar is the valid Perak menteri besar, according to The Star Online.

He also filed a stay application on Monday’s ruling at the Court of Appeal.

9.15am: Three FRU trucks and several police vehicles have left the state secretariat building. Three more trucks remain outside.

Senior state exco member Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham calls for press conference at 11am at state secretariat building.

8.30am: Nizar hands letter to seek audience with Sultan. Letter was handed to Raja Dr Nazrin Shah personally.

Pakatan Rakyat expected to hold press conference at 11am.

7.45am: Nizar leaves Perak Darul Ridzuan building in his official Menteri Besar vehicle, the black Toyota Camry bearing the numberplate AGS10.

About 20 light strike force officers form a line outside the building.

Ipoh Police Crime Unit chief Glenn Sinnapah informs Nizar that only executive councillors are allowed into the building. Nizar told the officer to allow the exco to proceed, saying he had to rush to the palace in an hour. Nizar, dressed in black baju Melayu and songkok, then leads a prayer in front of police lines before walking into the building at 7.30am with his wife, exco members and several aides.

A long line of cars are going into the state secretariat building, likely to be state government officers.

According to Glenn, about 200 police officers are on standby.

7.15am: Speaker V Sivakumar and several exco members arrive at the state secretariat building. The exco members include Nga Kor Ming (Pantai Remis), Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham (Sitiawan), Thomas Su (Pasir Pinji) and Tai Sing Ng (Kuala Sapetang).

Nizar scheduled to attend investiture ceremony in Kuala Kangsar at 8.30am.

6.45am: Three FRU trucks and light strike force personnel have set up watch at the gates of Perak Darul Ridzuan building. There are currently no roadblocks in sight. Reporters have started gathering nearby. Pakatan Rakyat executive councillors set to clock in for work at 7.15am.
