SIBU: A firework explosive was again thrown at the house of Wong Ho Leng, the state DAP chairman, at Jalan Ipoh here.

The close-circuit television (CCTV) camera installed at his house showed the footage of two unidentified men throwing the explosive into the fencing where it exploded in the incident at 7.26pm last night.

"I was opening the door when I saw a huge flash of fire followed by a deafening explosion.

"The flares shot everywhere, including into my house compound. The grass at the side of the drain caught fire and burned to the distance of around three metres," he told reporters.

He said his family members were safe at home and that there was no damage to property, although his five children were unnerved.

This was the second time that an explosive firework was thrown at his house after a similar incident on Sept 27 but it did not explode.

He said he contacted the police at about 7.30pm and a police patrol unit came at 8.15pm.

Wong, a practising lawyer and Bukit Assek assemblyman, said he had installed the CCTV after the first incident.

He said the explosive was the kind of firework with a diameter of three inches and was normally launched into the sky with a cylindrical launcher.

The firework explosive used in the first incident was about five inches in diametre, he said.

"To me, this is a cowardly act. I don't remember making any enemy recently; however, it is impossible for a politician not to have political enemies. I leave it that to the police to investigate," he said. -- Bernama
