Ong said he had received many words of encouragement and open support in the past two weeks. "I take cognisance of such support. We all, including me, have unfinished jobs to do. Today you are to witness the beginning of the integration process. This is one of the unfinished jobs," he said at a press conference at Wisma MCA today. "This is just the beginning of the process and we all need to put in our full commitment to make it work. "At the same time, after having given sufficient thought, I have been cautioned by the public that it is time to weigh between public trust in me and the personal pledge I made earlier. So, in the name of public trust, it is only fair that I as MCA president endeavour to live up to the expectation of the people and the members," he said. The no-confidence motion against Ong was passed at the EGM on Oct 10 with a slim 14-vote majority.
