PUTRAJAYA: MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai has told its secretary-general Datuk Wong Foon Meng to respect the party’s constitution and allow the requisition by 16 central committee (CC) members for an EGM.

Asked to comment on Wong’s rejection of the requisition, Liow said he had “instructed his lawyer to look into it”.

“The CC members have the right to call for an EGM. As secretary-general, he has to respect the constitution,” said the health minister, without elaborating, at the launch of the ministry’s Innovation Day campaign yesterday.

Liow declined to say if he planned to go directly to central delegates to get enough signatures for an EGM. A group aligned to him is  pressing for another EGM towards resolving the party’s internal conflict.
