KUALA KRAI: PAS rejected any dialogue with Umno during the by-election but the top leadership will decide on it after the contest, said PAS Manek Urai Election Operation Director Abdul Fatah Harun.
He was asked today to respond to calls by Umno Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin who had invited PAS to a dialogue and also to join Barisan Nasional (BN).
Abdul Fatah also refuted Khairy's claim that the youths will throw its support to BN because they were disappointed with PAS for failing to hold unity talk with Umno/BN.
"From our experience here, the young voters are with us. We see the same trend currently.
"What Khairy said is just wishful thinking," he added.
He is also confident that the young outstation voters will return home to vote.
Although PAS has managed to reach out to 70% of the voters in the Manek Urai constituency, Abdul Fatah said they are not at a comfortable position yet.
He also confirmed that deputy president Nasharuddin Mat Isa will campaign alongside Mursyidul Am Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat over the weekend.
Machang MP Saifuddin Nasution said Khairy should look for a more effective strategy instead of using the divide and rule tactic. The comment was made in response to Khairy's call for PAS to join Umno/BN at the BN Youth ceramah last night.
He added by using the divide and rule tactic, Khairy did not bring any new approach to the party.
Saifuddin is confident that the unity talks will not split Pakatan Rakyat.
"The isssue will have no effect in this by-election. It has been resolved in our presidential council meeting," he said.
