KUALA LUMPUR: The letter of support signed by then Transport Minister Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik for the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) project had no financial implication on the government, Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman Datuk Seri Azmi Khalid disclosed.

He said Ling, who testified before the PAC today, clarified that he signed the letter following proposal by the secretary-general of Transport Ministry as well as green light from the ministry's legal advisors.

"The letter itself does not mean a guarantee and as such there should be no financial implication on the government,"Azmi told a press conference today.
