Instead, opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim told reporters that there will be a panel consisting of representatives from the three Pakatan Rakyat parties to monitor each ministry. "We won’t have a shadow cabinet but will create panels comprising representatives from PKR, DAP and Pas to monitor the ministries. These panels will be headed by a MP," said Anwar. However, the PKR adviser did not provide any details and asked the press to wait for further announcements. Anwar was also skeptical that Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s impending cabinet announcement could improve the Barisan Nasional’s image. Using the results of yesterday’s by-elections as a benchmark, the former deputy prime minister said that the public was not convinced with the new prime minister either. "Although, Najib had announced several feel-good initiatives in the form of the partial release of ISA detainees, promises to amend the Internal Security Act and greater media freedom, the public seems unconvinced," said Anwar. Using the media for example, Anwar alleged that the media had become more crude in its malicious attacks against his coalition. "Worse still, this is happening after Najib has taken over. But voters are no longer gullible and did not respond to the reports," said the former deputy prime minister.
